Built on Trust

Our name reflects the Japanese concept of Bariki (バリキ)—structural stamina, internal motivation, and raw execution velocity. We built Bariki to give students that same energy, with an experience designed around respect for their autonomy from the very first line of code. Guidance when they want it, space when they don't, and a private place to think that's genuinely their own.

Bariki is built around one simple promise: your private world stays on your phone. The things that are personal—your conversations, your reflections, the day-to-day guidance you lean on—live on your own device and are never sent away. We designed Bariki so that it simply can't peek. It doesn't track students; it gives them the stamina to do their best work.

Bariki's study help is powered by Gemma 2B, an open model from Google, which we fine-tuned on NCERT textbook material. The aim is simple: explanations that follow the books students actually study, from a model small enough to live on a phone.

It downloads once, then runs on the device itself — so a student's questions aren't sent away to be answered.

Like any AI, it can be wrong. Bariki is a study aid — check important answers against your textbook or ask your teacher. Bariki is an independent project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by NCERT or Google.

Is Bariki free for individual students?

Bariki is offered through schools and institutions, so students get access once their school partners with us.

What AI does Bariki use?

Bariki's study help runs on Gemma 2B, an open model from Google that we fine-tuned on NCERT textbook material. It runs on the student's own phone after a one-time download. Like any AI it can make mistakes, so treat it as a study aid, not the final word.

Can teachers or the school read my private notes and conversations?

No. Your personal notes and conversations stay on your own phone. They're never uploaded, so no one—not the school, not even us—can read them.

Is Bariki a nonprofit?

Yes. Bariki is organized as a Section 8 non-profit¹ under Indian company law—a structure built for organizations with an educational purpose, where any surplus is put back into the mission rather than paid out to owners.

Partner With Us

We're looking for schools to partner with us. We'd like to interview a small group of students — roughly 3–4 per class, from Classes 7 to 12 — to help shape the app around what they actually need. Bariki is being set up as a Section 8 non-profit¹, so we're not asking for funding or any ownership stake — just the chance to listen to the students who'll use it.
